- Economic Impacts of Airports and Aviation in New York 2024 The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Aviation Bureau website now hosts a comprehensive multi-year statewide study of the economic impacts of airports and aviation. This study, initially planned to be a snapshot of current and past economic trends, was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, it became apparent the department had an opportunity to assess economic recovery data from the pandemic as well. The expanded study closely examined airport economic data for three years, 2019, 2020, and 2022. Airports are essential for business development in New York State, creating over 454,000 jobs and nearly $80 billion in economic activity statewide.
- The economic impact study materials can be accessed from ourwebsite: https://www.dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/opdm/aviation/benefits. This includes a brand new online Airport Search Tool dedicated to communicating the economic benefits of airports and aviation to all our stakeholders, including the general public. Anyone can now easily use this tool to view valuable airport economic impact data.
- Please feel free to forward to anyone. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the NYSDOT Aviation Bureau at [email protected], or by calling (518) 485-7691.
