Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station (NFARS) traces its lineage back to 1943, when Bell Aircraft Corporation began building structures capable of designing and producing experimental aircraft. Two years later, Bell constructed and tested the Bell X-1 experimental aircraft at Niagara Falls before taking it west to make aviation history. In 1947, Capt. Chuck Yeager became the first person to travel faster than the speed of sound in the X-1 at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Since the 1940s, NFARS has been home to over 20 different military cargo, refueling, and fighter aircraft. The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) and it’s Niagara Falls International Airport has three active runways, which serve general aviation, military, and commercial flights. In 2009 a new state-of-the-art terminal opened, capable of taking full advantage of the versatile facilities Niagara Falls has been proud of for more than 80 years. Attendees will participate in a guided tour of operations at the NFARS and enjoy interactive activities.

Requirements

Attendees will need to provide their driver’s license number, county of birth, country of citizenship and DOB in advance and bring their photo identification. Additional information may be required as the date gets closer.
